Enough with all the funny chit-chat. How are you feeling? Do you feel like you belong in the world now? Or do you feel that no matter what you do, it is not good enough and you no longer see any point in living?

About 5% of the population is depressed. That is almost half a billion. If 20 people were to read this article, chances are high that 1 of them is depressed.

This is concerning. It depresses me to see others depressed. It depresses me that society makes people depressed by putting so much pressure on them.

If you do not have expensive clothes, that is not good because you do not fit in with the cool guys. Wham! Depression. If somebody who you loved dies: Wham! Depression (This is human, I am not saying this is a bad thing).

It can happen from any direction. It is terrible. It has become part of the human being. It tears apart human beings.

Depression is something only humans can experience to its fullest. Animals can be sad too, but being said for months, sometimes even years straight, is something only a human being can experience.

Now we do not have to fight to survive, our problems shifted from not finding food to having nice clothes so others like you. Because we do not have to fight to survive, we worry about other things instead. Worries that of course lead to depression.

I have been depressed, you have been depressed. We have all experienced that feeling of not being good enough or just not living your life the way you want to live it.

But what if I told you you could stop being depressed right now?

Your mood is your choice

Depression is a form of victimhood. You act poor, even though you are not that poor.

“Oh, poor me. I am so awful. I am terrible. I shouldn't be in this world.” This happens unconsciously.

Smile right now. I mean it.

Smile and think: “I am worthy! I am great!” and smile. Smile. Smile for 1 minute straight. Because you are worthy, and you are amazing. Just think of what you are proud of. Think about your parents, think about your children. Think about your brothers and friends. Choose to be happy.

It is up to you. Are you going to play miserable man, or are you going to play amazing man? Just murder all of your bad and sad thoughts, and think of your good thoughts. Good memories. Because everyone has them. Even you.

Your thoughts decide your mood. In other terms: you decide your mood. You can choose to be happy, and live your life in a good way.

So stop playing the victim, and start playing the hero! Live in the light, and be guided by good memories and thoughts, not by the dark ones.

I know it is hard. Trust me. You absolutely believe you are in a terrible position. But whatever happened, send your regards. Move to the future, and move away from the past.

I am sitting in the cold, it is dark outside, and the silence is loud. The only thing I hear is my thoughts. I feel depressed, and I like it. Depression is normal. It is human nature. But do not stay in that state for too long.

I can now decide to not be depressed. I just smile, think of good things and I am happy. You can too.
