Everyone is being played
If you have been following the news reports from the UK, you might think the country is collapsing.
I live in the UK. There has been some trouble playing out but it isn’t as bad as the media (and the government) portray it.
As with anything, there is much more to it.
The apparent trigger to events was a shocking story about the murder of 3 children in a daycare centre. All I know about this is what was reported in the media, so I’m in no position to say much about it.
Protests began in Southport, near Liverpool, where the incident occurred. These turned violent and soon spread to other towns and cities.
The media and our brand new government have done what they do best — talking up the trouble into something nearing a civil war. In equally certain terms, it has spent the week spreading stories of a highly organised, far-right uprising.
The real roots of current events go back a long way.
In the 1980s, our country underwent rapid deindustrialisation.
I remember the devastating effect the closure of everything had on communities in northeast England. While we were hit particularly hard and fast up here, many other parts of the country faced similar problems.
